OVERVIEW:
The mission of the Division of Pediatric Neurology is to achieve national prominence in education, research, and patient care, in the context of healthcare reform. To accomplish this mission, the Division has developed multidisciplinary programs in neuro-oncology, epilepsy, and cognitive neurology.
Our primary goals are:
- to offer children with epilepsy state-of-the-art medical and surgical options to control seizures,
- to team with schools, teachers and other professionals to provide children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning disorders unique medical and behavioral therapies,
- to empower students to learn to independently manage children with common neurological problems in a primary care setting,
- to offer students synergistic clinical and basic science research opportunities, and
- to advance our understanding of neurological disease by conducting basic and clinical neuroscience research.
