Special Interests

  • Melissa Maisenbacher’s special interests include the 22q11.2 deletion (DiGeorge/VCFS), congenital vertebral malformations, and congenital heart defects.  She is the genetic counselor for the Congenital Heart Center at UF/Shands and provides genetic counseling services to all families seen in the cardiomyopathy clinic.  She is also involved in clinical trials for Pompe disease through the Powell Gene Therapy Center and organizes the International Barth Syndrome Patient Registry and DNA Bank centered at UF.
