Clinic Details
Clinic begins at 8:15 a.m. and is usually finished by 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. It is held in the Medical Plaza Clinic. Typically, 15 to 18 families are scheduled. One hour is allotted for new patient appointments and one-half hour slots for return patients. There is no official break for lunch.
Because of no-shows or cancelled appointments, about 10 families are usually seen on a clinic day. A list of families scheduled (that lists reason for referral and other patient information) may be available for your review prior to clinic. You can review this list if you contact the genetic counselor in charge of that clinic (call the Division of Genetics' office at 392-4104 to be connected to the counselor).,/p>
Residents and students record their work on a genetic evaluation form. The attending physician usually completes the dictation. Time is allowed for discussion of patients; active clinical participation is encouraged as opposed to only observation.
Be sure to dress appropriately and bring your examination tools and your proper name identification badge.
