MDTP’s mission is to provide unique services to schoolchildren with special educational, medical, behavioral, social, and emotional needs that are not available through other established programs. MDTP is funded through the Florida Department of Education to assist children who have been previously evaluated and have received educational interventions by the school system, but continue to have academic difficulties.
Services include:
Comprehensive, interdisciplinary evaluations for pre-K through 6th grade students referred by their families, local school districts, or state and community agencies
Direct intervention services including counseling, social-skills training, and speech/language, occupational therapy and medical consultation services
Consultation services are provided to school districts throughout the region. These services include academic and behavioral consultation with classroom teachers and other school personnel, and participation in school-based intervention teams
In-service and pre-service training and educational work-shops for teachers and other professionals across a range of disciplines
Parent support and education services focused on providing parents with the information and knowledge necessary to support their children
