Shands Children's HospitalShands Children's Hospital at the University of Florida is the only comprehensive pediatric facility in north-central Florida. This children's hospital-within-a-hospital has pediatric programs encompassing general pediatrics, primary care, and all the pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties.

The facilities at Shands UF include a medical and surgical PICU with 24 private rooms that accommodate ICU and intermediate medical care (IMC) patients and a specially designed family room sponsored by the Ronald McDonald Charities. There is also a newly designed 9 bed IMC unit and a Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit on the 4th floor to complement the 61-bed pediatric unit. The recently remodeled Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is part of the Children's Medical Services Regionalized Perinatal Program to care for severely ill infants throughout Florida and South Georgia.

Shands Children's Hospital features one of only seven Children's Lung Centers in the nation and one of three Genetic and Diabetes Units in Florida.
