Conferences
The Pediatrics program provides a well-rounded education through a variety of conferences and lectures. Aside from the list below many subspecialty conferences are also available for those interested in attending. Additionally, Web CT is utilized in order to provide access to the curriculum in an online format.

Morning report
(Monday-Thursday, 8:00-8:30)
Senior residents present interesting and educational cases to their peers and faculty. All residents are invited to attend morning report.
Grand Rounds
(Fridays, 8:00-9:00)
Both UF faculty and visiting professors provide exposure to state-of-the-art basic and clinical research with application to patient care. Included in the agenda are presentations prepared by each third year pediatric resident.
Subspecialty Conference
(Mondays and Fridays, 12:00pm, ward teams)
During rotations on the inpatient unit, pediatric subspecialists provide a lecture series that covers subspecialty topics on a rotating basis.
Primary Care Conference
(Tuesdays, 12:15)
In conjunction with the Core Conference series, these lectures follow the objectives outlined by the Pediatrics Review and Education Program (PREP) and are designed to cover all basic pediatric topics during the three years of residency training. Lunch is provided.
Core conference
(Thursdays, 12:15)
In conjunction with the Primary Care Conference series, these lectures follow the objectives outlined by the Pediatrics Review and Education Program (PREP) and are designed to cover all basic pediatric topics during the three years of residency training. Lunch is provided.
Journal Club
(Monthly, 12:15)
Second year pediatric residents lead this conference that is designed to reinforce critical thinking and the use of evidence-based medicine when evaluating research.
Mock Code Review
(Monthly, 12:15)
Monthly mock codes are held in a variety of locations throughout the hospital. The review of the video-tape is led by pediatric intensivists and hospitalists and provides an educational and interactive analysis of the mock code.
Morbidity and Mortality
(Monthly, 12:15)
Third year pediatric residents present cases and systematically evaluate potential areas of improvement within the system.
Board Review
(Monthly, 12:15) (Jeopardy and specialty PREP)
Two separate conferences provide unique ways to prepare for the pediatric boards. A second year resident prepares the questions and discussion and one conference involves reviewing PREP questions from a particular subspecialty with the corresponding subspecialist acting as the moderator. The other conference also includes PREP questions, but is conducted in a fun "Jeopardy" game show format. Lunch is provided.
Intern lecture series
This am lecture series occurs weekly at the beginning of the year and covers some fundamental topics in pediatrics such as seizures, fever and neutropenia, and asthma.
Bench to Bedside
A monthly lecture series by residents, fellows and faculty focusing on applied pathophysiology and mechanisms of disease to teach the understanding of clinical disease through a mechanistic approach.
