Intern Survival Guide
View 2008 Intern Survival Guide presentation
The out-going interns would like to welcome you to the University of Florida and our wonderful Pediatric Residency program. The past year has seen many changes, but please rest assured that these changes are all for the better. In order to make sure that your intern experience is just as enjoyable, our class wanted to provide you with this survival guide.
The purpose of this survival guide is not to provide all the answers, but to provide a brief orientation to each aspect of residency. We will address all intern rotations as well as other aspects of residency, such as nursing and hospital challenges. We will also discuss life outside of the hospital. Please keep this guide handy so that you can revisit it throughout the year. This guide was also meant to help calm your nerves about residency.
We are continuing the tradition of this guide that was first proposed by the 2004 intern class. The advice and statements are what we wish that we would have known prior to residency. Please make this a living document: review, revise, and improve it as you go through the year so that it will be more informative every year. (Ideally, your class would elect someone at the beginning of the year to be responsible for improving it with your combined suggestions.) It is our wish that this survival guide is passed on from year to year with new and updated ideas. Thank you and please enjoy, we hope it helps.
Sincerely,
The intern class of 2007-2008
